DevTalks: Working with Evolving Platforms and Leveraging Custom Metadata
On Wednesday, May 11 I’m excited to introduce our 2 presentations for the San Francisco DevTalks Meetup covering lessons learned in dealing with evolving platforms and a new feature allowing developers to leverage Custom Metadata.
The Salesforce platform is growing up – into a true software development platform. Once it was possible to have a thorough knowledge of the platform – it’s classes, features and APIs. Nowadays we are continuously learning new corners of the platform.
Dan Appleton, Chief Technology Officer at Full Circle Insights, will discuss the challenges of evolving platforms and the unspoken fear of falling behind. In his session, we’ll examine the consequences of growth and change, and strategies that are used by developers on other mature platforms to deal with these challenges.
Salesforce’s Aaron Slettehaugh and Avrom Roy-Faderman will discuss the new platform feature that allows developers to define their own types of metadata. Custom metadata types open a new layer of the platform, giving you tools to build much more powerful, customizable, and configurable apps; to extend Force.com with new platform features; and even build your very own platform.
