FinancialForce teams up with Embrace Oregon to help local foster children
Embrace Oregon is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to connect caring individuals and families with vulnerable children in partnership with the Department of Human Services (DHS) Child Welfare Program. Earlier this month, the Certinia Portland team volunteered and Certinia sponsored Embrace Oregon’s Inaugural Casino Night Gala at the Portland Art Museum to raise awareness and funds for the organization.
Community members and attendees enjoyed a festive evening of food, drinks, and casino games while raising money through silent and live auctions and donations. The ultimate goal is to use these funds to help provide safe, nurturing places for children involved with DHS and to help improve their lives.
Through the funds raised at the event, Embrace Oregon hopes to refurbish the eight visitation rooms at the DHS midtown office by the end of 2018. These rooms are where children spend time with their loved ones, where foster and adoptive families meet on a weekly basis, and where parents receive special training and education.
The Certinia team in Portland has been involved with this group for some time now, managing monthly cleans and sanitization of the center. It is now our goal to help with the overall makeover of the visitation rooms to better serve families.
We want to give special thanks to certified foster parent, Embrace Oregon volunteer, and entrepreneur, Matt DeWolf, who came up with the Casino Night idea to raise money in a fun and engaging yet meaningful way. Our team was honored to champion the cause alongside Matt, his team, and all of the other amazing volunteers.
