FinancialForce4Good: Celebrating St. Patty’s Day with Families in Transition
What better way to celebrate St. Patty’s Day than to volunteer at Families in Transition in Manchester, NH for Certinia4Good?
Families in Transition (FIT) is a non-profit organization founded in 1991 that provides housing and programs that help New Hampshire individuals and families who are homeless or on the verge of becoming homeless. FIT not only houses 180 individuals or families at any given night, they also provide these individuals with services such as life skills, Family Willows intensive outpatient program and youth programs to understand and overcome the root causes of their homelessness.
The Certinia team was excited to get involved with this organization by volunteering at FIT’s thrift store, OutFITters in downtown Manchester. All of OutFITters’ profits go directly back into FIT housing and programs. Certinia had two shifts of volunteers work at the thrift store where we sorted and organized inventory to be placed on the floor to sell. The team sifted through winter jackets, baby, youth, women and men’s clothes along with accessories. Not only did we power through most of the inventory, we had fun doing it as a team.
At the end of our shifts, our volunteer coordinator at FIT told us that by volunteering our time at the thrift store, we saved FIT over $600 which equals two weeks of housing for two different families. Amazing!
We loved making a difference and helping the individuals and families that are part of FIT and we can’t wait to volunteer again!
