Summer of Trailhead is rocking!
A few weeks ago, the Summer of Trailhead began. Summer is a perfect time for new experiences and in that spirit you can step out of your comfort zone to learn new things. The Summer of Trailhead is a large collection of meetups hosted by Salesforce User Groups and Developer User Groups around the world, all focused on Trailhead.
According to the Trailhead FAQ, “Trailhead is an interactive learning path through the basic building blocks of the Salesforce platform.” This tool allows you to expand your Salesforce knowledge through a plethora of interactive trails, rewarding your experience with badges and points (which can be so fun and addicting)!
Trailhead is broken down into 3 major areas. You start off with the Admin – Beginner Trail, which focuses on Salesforce fundamentals such as the data model, sharing model and some declarative modifications. As you learn more, you can begin the Admin – Intermediate Trail, which gets more into formulas, change management and the Lightning App Builder. Finally, once you’re ready, you can jump into the Developer – Beginner Trail, which gets into some coding with Visualforce, Triggers and Apex unit tests. The beauty of all of this is that even advanced developers who specialize in Triggers and Apex can brush up on their skills on things like formulas. On the other side of the coin, admins can learn some coding through a guided tour to give them a nice start to learn the coding side of things.
Everyone has room to improve, from the novice all the way to the expert. Trailhead covers a full spectrum of functionality and makes it easy to learn quickly. The Summer of Trailhead provides a means for you to meet up with other like-minded individuals looking to expand to their horizons and learn new things about Salesforce.
People all over the world are coming together. Maybe you will meet your new coworker or start up a nice study group for that certification you always wanted? Either way, you will have a great time, come away with some cool swag and get to meet some awesome people.
Members of the Certinia R&D team will be at several meetups, including Los Angeles, Seattle, my local meetup in the Lehigh Valley, PA, and more. Come out and say hi! We’d love to meet you. Salesforce is constantly adding new trails so come experience this fun tool and join in on the fun.
